How About...?
How about a novel based on Viktor Petrenko? If you've read the short story, let me know what you think. If you haven't read the story then, a) read it, and b) understand it is NOT the ice skater.

I say go for it myself. I liked Viktor, thought he was interesting.

I DID wonder WHY you used that name, but I'm a skating junkie so maybe the name only means something to those of us who have been following the sport for a long time.

The only problem with Viktor as a hero is that he needs a cause to kill for because, let's face it, if he's not killing, where's the fun? This is hardly an insurmountable problem.

I finished writing the story with a nagging feeling that the name was also teh skater's name. I checked online and found thousands of hits for the name. I decided to keep it because I thought it was cool and it leads to the inevitable "VIktor Petrenko? Like the skater?" "No. Not like the skater."
