The Fifth Giveaway - Bruen, Bruen, and Winspear...
A fifth of what, you ask...Well, you've got the wrong end of the stick. This is the fifth of I'm not sure how many giveaways this month. Cleaning out my shelves as I've got to make space. So here is another batch you can toss your hat into the ring for - Ken Bruen "The Dramatist" Ken Bruen "The Guards" and, nothing goes better with Bruen than Jacqueline Winspear's "Masie Dobbs."
I know what you're thinking - "But Steven, Winspear has won an Edgar. Bruen has not. Therefore, the two authors don't mix well on the reading palette." Ms. Winspear may well have won an Edgar, but I ask you in return, has she really? Really?*
In any event, I'll also throw in a Paco Ignacio Taibo title to be named later.
Frankly, I wasn't able to finish Maisie Dobbs. Kept waiting for an ax chop or a slash with a tire iron. I guess there really are different types of readers.
*Actually, I should look that up because I'm not really sure.

A comment will get my hat in the ring? That's it? Hmmmm. Seems too easy, making me very suspicious, but then I'm an avid mystery reader who is suspicious of nearly everything.
I am very curious about the Maisie Dobbs. I've heard nothing but good things, so I'd like to get the opportunity to read it.
I didn't do well with Maisie on my first read either, but after hearing it read via audiobooks, I loved it. Perhaps just the timing... Anyway, I'd love to enter the drawing fray. Am constantly in need of new mysteries.
I am ready for what ever you are willing to throw at me. Cleaning one's closet can be good for the soul. You clean shelves I am doing closets. The books can replace the boxes of cloths recently left at a local shelter.
Thanks for the giving

Sounds like it is going to be a clean sweep! I haven't read Maisie Dobbs but I have read Concrete Maze and that would be hard to beat.
famfatale is always in need of new mysteries because she reads so fast - I know that to be true.
It's Ken that I want to read. So that means I could read him first and last and Violet in the middle, eh?
;-)
I haven't read anything by either Ken or Jacqueline although I have heard good things about both authors. I would love to have any of the books you are giving away. Thanks so much!
